Microsoft Corporation has proposed amending the Overlake Business and Advanced Technology Zone regulations to allow up to 9-story buildings in the central portion of the Microsoft East Campus, with the option to go to 10 stories using transferable development rights. Currently, up to 5-story office buildings are allowed.

Microsoft and the City executed a Development Agreement in 2005 for future growth on the campus. This request does not include any additional development beyond what is allowed under that agreement. No specific building plans have been submitted and no specific buildings are part of this proposal.

The visualizations below show how taller buildings would look from various points around the proposed height overlay area. The proposed height overlay area is shaded in yellow with a dashed yellow outline.

The Planning Commission recommended approval of this proposal on September 24, 2014. Read the Commission's report here. The City Council's review and decision on this proposal are expected in early 2015.
