System Testing: Wednesday June 18, 5:30 - 9pm
On the subject of disaster preparation, the City of Redmond has been working on a multi-phase Disaster Recovery project to implement an alternative Data Center for City Business operations.
Now in phase two, it is time to test incoming and outgoing telephone calls at multiple City buildings that are connected with new routing equipment. 911 calls are not a part of this test, and will be working.
Information Services is planning to perform this work on Wednesday, and
because this is a test sequence to let us know what to expect of our network system in a disaster event, we are asking that the public assume there could be issues with business phone calls to many City buildings (i.e. the ORSCC, the Public Safety Building, Firestations, or the Senior Center) during this time.
We expect the public will still have access to the Redmond.gov website, Parks and Recreation online registration, and Permits purchasing, though the online Traffic Cameras are not expected to work during the test.
